How CTP is Supporting Redcare Pharmacy's European Growth
CTP is recognised throughout Europe as the region's largest listed developer and manager of industrial and logistics properties.
One of its latest major projects involves building a state-of-the-art distribution centre for Redcare Pharmacy at CTPark Blatnice in the Czech Republic, scheduled for completion in July 2025.
It's a project that combines sustainability with cutting-edge pharmaceutical storage solutions, meeting the needs of a leader in the context of Europe's e-pharmacy sector.
Once complete, the centre will span more than 30,000 square metres and is tailored to meet the stringent demands of pharmaceutical operations while supporting environmental goals.
Redcare Pharmacy's impressive growth
Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Sevenum in the Netherlands, Redcare Pharmacy now operates across seven European countries: Germany, Austria, France, Belgium, Italy, the Netherlands and Switzerland
These days it serves almost 12 million customers with a wide-ranging product portfolio that includes medication, supplements, prescription drugs and beauty items.
The company has made its mark in the industry, listing on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2016 and joining the MDAX index in 2023.
This new facility is being developed with the aim of delivering orders faster to customers in neighbouring Austria, marking a critical step in Redcare's bid to scale operations.
"Finding a partner who understands the specific needs of the pharmaceutical industry was crucial for us," explains Theresa Holler, COO and pharmacist at Redcare Pharmacy.
"CTP not only has experience in this sector, but offered us premises with a high standard of sustainability and technologies that ensure safe and efficient storage of pharmaceuticals. We look forward to working together and successfully delivering this project."
Sustainability and advanced technology in logistics
CTP is weaving sustainability into every aspect of the project. Rooftop photovoltaic panels will provide renewable energy and electric vehicle charging stations are planned for fleet and employee use. Rainwater retention and reuse systems aim to reduce environmental impact, while pools and habitats for local wildlife will enhance biodiversity in the area.
The strategic location of CTPark Blatnice, just 17 kilometres from Pilsen and seven kilometres from the Nýřany container terminal, strengthens its appeal as a logistics hub. With proximity to the D5 motorway and technical universities, the park offers excellent transport connections and access to a skilled workforce.
The site currently spans 58,600 square metres, with a planned expansion of 20,748 square metres.
Meanwhile, CTP's design ensures compliance with the State Institute for Drug Control (SÚKL) standards, which oversee pharmaceutical storage in the Czech Republic. This includes precise temperature regulation and high-tech systems to guarantee the safe handling of pharmaceuticals.
“CTPark Blatnice will provide an optimal environment for development thanks to its modern facilities and strategic location, as well as our speed and expertise in delivering large and technically challenging projects,” adds Jakub Kodr, Head of Business Development in the Czech Republic at CTP.
"The emphasis on sustainability and innovative technologies such as heat pumps or photovoltaic panels show CTP’s commitment to ESG as a long-term owner of industrial and logistics real estate.”
With construction under way, this new facility promises to advance Redcare Pharmacy’s logistics capabilities while setting a benchmark for sustainable and innovative design in pharmaceutical storage.
