Leading universities from all ends of the earth gathered in Amsterdam last week for the International Student Final of The Fresh Connection. The University of Western Sydney, winner of the Australian University Competition, was out in full force representing Australia, with an aim to win the title of ‘The World’s Best Supply Chain University.’

And it did just that. With a dominant performance, demonstrating outstanding supply chain knowledge, the UWS team blew its competition out of the water, achieving an amazing return on investment of more than 28 percent, leaving front-runner Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School from Belgium standing in the dust.

Students present at the competition representing UWS included Chris Fifta, Ali Leghaei, Markie Lugton and Kate Smith, all whom study the Supply Chain Management undergraduate key program at UWS.

“These students are a credit to themselves and to the university,” said lecturer Stephen Waters, according to Transport and Logistics News.

These students were proud to represent their university and were ecstatic over the win. “We are so excited to have achieved success like we did on an international stage. As a team, we worked so well together and hope that other students in the future will also have an opportunity to experience The Fresh Connection,” said Ali Leghaei, according to Transport and Logistics News.

“We all got along with each other so very well, commented UWS student Markie Lugton, according to Transport and Logistics News. “Collaboration and teamwork have been the most important factors in our success. Winning the Australian Competition was good, but this is amazing for us and the university.”
