Maersk Line has been recognised by Unilever for its contributions to the company’s supply chain at the ‘Partner to Win’ Supplier Summit in Singapore.

The event was called to discuss sustainable growth on a global scale and the development of emerging markets, something which both Maersk and Unilever have been looking to capitalise on in recent months.

Over 350 representatives attended the summit, consisting of Unilver’s strategic partners; addressing topics including innovation, best practice and service levels.

“Our business has grown by €10 billion since 2009 despite the challenging economic conditions,” said Pier Luigi Sigismondi, Chief Supply Chain Officer, Unilever. “This has been made possible through the investment our strategic supplier partners have made in increased capacity, innovation delivery and sustainable solutions together with Unilever.

“We are thrilled to award Maersk Line the ‘Partner to Win’ award for their commitment to working with Unilever to grow our businesses sustainably together.”

Thomas Riber Knudsen was the man charged with the honour of receiving the reward as Chief Executive of Maersk Line’s Asia Pacific Region and pointed towards the reduction of Unilever’s environmental footprint as a common goal of the two companies.

“I am honoured to accept the award on behalf of Maersk Line which has been a result of hard work from all our colleagues,” he said. “To help Unilever meet its ambition of sustainable growth, Maersk Line has signed a long-term business development plan, which outlines the companies' joint commitments and priorities for the next three years.

“The business plan not only allows Unilever and Maersk Line to grow businesses together, but also includes specific commitments to do so at the lowest possible cost to the environment.”
