Indian online marketplace Snapdeal has announced the opening of six new logistics hubs in major cities across the country as it aims to bolster its warehousing and delivery operations ahead of the festive season.

Three of the facilities are located in the National Capital Region, with the others located in Lucknow, Hyderabad and Kolkata, respectively.

The six new centres are owned by Snapdeal subsidiary Vulcan Express. The company’s infrastructure investments will allow it to execute more efficient deliveries as it seeks to compete with fellow eCommerce majors Flipkart and Amazon.

Vulcan now owns 10 warehouses, with the new additions contributing an extra 1 million square feet of space.

“Super-fast deliveries are an essential part of the Snapdeal experience,”  said Jayant Sood,  the company’s Chief Customer Experience Officer.

“The new warehouses are located in cities where demand is growing exponentially and will allow our sellers to hold inventory closer to their customers. These facilities will help us deliver even faster in a cost-effective manner to these cities and to surrounding areas.”

Snapdeal’s marketplace boasts more than 300,000 sellers and over 35 million available products. It delivers goods to more than 6,000 Indian cities and towns.
