Musgrave Retail Partners Ireland is to acquire DCC’s Allied Logistics business, which specialises in temperature-controlled storage and distribution services.

The takeover is conditional on the approval of the Irish Competition Authority, and follows Musgrave’s acquisition of Allied Logistics’ subsidiary Allied Foods earlier this year.

The company said it would continue to provide services to Allied Logistics’ clients following the deal, which include General Mills and Burger King as well as Musgraves’ own Supervalu and Centra brands.

Martin Kelleher, Managing Director of Musgraves’ retail arm, said: “The deal made sense as the company was an excellent strategic fit for our operations in Ireland and there is a natural synergy between both organisations.

“We have a long-standing trading relationship and look forward to the employees of Allied Logistics joining Musgrave.”

Allied Logistics provides ambient and temperature controlled storage and distribution services in Ireland and the acquisition will provide Musgrave with access to a highly efficient frozen supply chain. Musgrave will continue to provide supply chain services to all of Allied Logistics existing customers.
