The Denmark-based conglomerate company, Maersk, has announced the unveiling of a digital customs clearance platform, according to Supply Chain Dive.

The introduction of its online customs clearance is the latest move in its attempt to become a one-stop-shop for shippers.

With the pricing for import and export customs declarations shown online, it diminishes the requirement for Maersk to enable shippers with a quote and “saving three to five minutes per quote,” according to Vincent Clerc, Chief Commercial Officer of Maersk.

In a press release, Clerc commented: “It saves our customers time, money and headaches reducing the number of intermediaries they deal with from three or four to just one.”

Initially unveiled in France, Denmark, Germany, Poland, The Netherlands, Spain and the UK, the carrier is expected to expand its offering worldwide by the end of 2019. The leading container line has refined its business over the past couple of years in a bid to become more customer-centric and zone in on logistics and supply chain.
