Earlier this month, a baby North American river otter was rescued at a filling station in Tampa, Florida.  He was then transferred to Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife, which has been taking care of the otter with hopes of finding a new home for the animal.

Oliver began his trek from Tampa through Memphis this last week aboard a FedEx jet – the courier offered to provide the necessary resources and expertise to safely transport the unusual cargo (he was named Oliver by his carers) to his new home in Denver.

Owl’s Nest Sanctuary for Wildlife found a home for the otter pup at Downtown Aquarium - an AZA-accredited facility, which holds the property to the highest of industry standards, and boasts a beautiful habitat that is perfectly suitable for this new otter.

FedEx Services' Vice President Corporate Communications, Neil Gibson, commented: “FedEx is pleased to help the Owl’s Nest Sanctuary safely move Oliver from Tampa to his new home at the Downtown Aquarium in Denver. This FedEx Cares shipment is part of our ‘Delivering for Good’ initiative to use our network to make important connections in our communities.”

FedEx is investing $200 million in over 200 communities across the globe; by 2020 the courier hopes to have created opportunities and delivered solutions to advance entrepreneurship, create employment, enhance sustainable transportation, and make roads and pedestrians safer.
