ShipBob is tackling delivery delays by launching zone skipping and tracking tools, making the distribution process more transparent and reliable

ShipBob, a leading global supply chain platform, has launched zone skipping and integrated tracking tools across the US in an effort to cut down transit times and shipment damage, while also improving supply chain visibility.

By introducing integrated tracking through its own logistics network, the company will provide greater transparency for SMB and mid-market ecommerce merchants and their customers.

ShipBob’s core goal is to help its customers run leaner, faster and more resilient supply chains.

Less handoffs mean less risk

By introducing zone skipping, ShipBob can transport shipments itself without the use of a third party. Products will be sent to different regions in dedicated trunks, before using carrier partners for the final section.

By transporting these products, ShipBob will reduce the need for multiple handoffs, which in turn lowers transit times by a whole 24 hours. It also reduces the risk of items being delayed or damaged.

Alongside zone skipping, ShipBob has launched its own tracking page, TrackBob, where consumers can watch their package’s full journey via a dedicated dashboard, with timestamps.

From pick-and-package at the warehouse to front door delivery, this high-visibility overview reduces inquiries for ShipBob merchants and improves customer experience.

The journey to zone skipping

Since it was founded in late 2014, ShipBob has consistently invested in technology, infrastructure and customer experience.

In 2022, the company launched its Inventory Placement Program (IPP), an automated inventory distribution service that optimises placement of inventory across its US fulfillment centres, and built regional sort centers. Both were precursors for its zone skipping programme.

The launch of zone skipping means that thousands of fast-growing brands gain greater efficiency and shipping speed from ShipBob. Moreover, it helps these growing brands compete with large enterprise retailers.

Dhruv Saxena, CEO and Co-Founder of ShipBob says: “Zone skipping isn't just a new shipping method; It's the result of years of investment in technology, scale and operational excellence, all coming together.

Keeping the consumer in mind

ShipBob’s introductions are designed to help both merchants and consumers, keeping their needs at the forefront of delivery.

"ShipBob is thinking several steps ahead to prevent disruption, while keeping prices low for our merchants, to help them run an efficient supply chain," says Melissa Nick, Chief Supply Chain Officer at ShipBob.

"We are able to do this because we have scale that our merchants can benefit from, especially right now with the uncertainty in the market. What also makes this special is that we have a far better tracking journey and can reduce overall time in transit."

Merchants can gain full visibility into their supply chain, tracking order statuses and real-time inventory on their ShipBob dashboard.

Here, they obtain full insights into their business and, as a result, can run their operations more efficiently and gain a better understanding of their sales processes.

Dhruv says: "At ShipBob, we solve the hardest problems in logistics because we believe our merchants deserve an infrastructure that helps them win."

ShipBob will continue to expand through its zone skipping service, ensuring it can keep merchants and consumers satisfied - and maintain the highest level of efficiency.
