The Global Infrastructure Hub (GI Hub), has launched its Beta “Field Guide to Infrastructure Resources” to aid both the public and private sectors in navigating procurement practices and infrastructure across the globe.

The online database contains an exhaustive list of roughly a thousand global resources, which are catalogued, and can be searched by country, infrastructure sector, author organisation, and type. The Field Guide brings infrastructure insights together into a single platform and is easily accessible to enable effective dissemination of knowledge.

The Field Guide seeks to address challenges highlighted by the private and public sector in accessing fundamental infrastructure data which can delay or block investment. According to the B20 there is an opportunity to unlock $2 trillion in potential global infrastructure capacity by 2030.

Global Infrastructure Hub CEO Chris Heathcote said: “We have a G20 mandate to increase the flow and the quality of opportunities for public and private infrastructure investment. The Field Guide to Infrastructure Resources is our first step in developing a knowledge network for governments, international organisations, development banks, national infrastructure institutions and the private sector to share information on infrastructure projects and financing. We plan to improve and add extra features to the Field Guide over time, to connect more infrastructure practitioners with the essential data they need to unlock infrastructure investment opportunities.”

The Field Guide covers the full infrastructure investment cycle – from policy environments, to project planning and delivery. It includes publications and web-based materials from the public and private sector on infrastructure development.

The Field Guide to Infrastructure Resources can be accessed free of charge via the Global Infrastructure Hub website: guide.globalinfrastructurehub.org
