Coca-Cola’s European business has been recognised for its collaborative supply chain practices with an award for Best Supplier Engagement.

This was part of the Sustainability & Sustainable Procurement Leadership Awards handed out by EcoVadis, provider of sustainability ratings and performance improvement tools for global supply chains.

EcoVadis’ CSR scorecards help companies to monitor suppliers’ environmental, ethical, and social practices across 150 purchasing categories and 110 countries, and over 150 industry leaders such as Nestlé, GSK, Heineken, Michelin, Johnson & Johnson, Schneider Electric, l’Oréal, BASF, and Subway, and over 30,000 of their trading partners use it to reduce risk and drive sustainability and innovation.

The award given to Coca-Cola European Partners recognizes companies demonstrating excellence in engaging suppliers in their sustainable procurement programs. Examples of candidate inputs examined: ratio of suppliers scored on EcoVadis, number of new suppliers entering the rating program, training, hosting of ‘supplier day’ events or webinars, awards and recognition programs that reward suppliers for CSR performance.

Two other major awards were made alongside Best Supplier Engagement. The award for Best Internal Stakeholder Engagement went to French national rail operator SNCF, while tyre specialist Michelin won Best Supplier CSR Performance Improvement.
