BT updates vehicle fleet with 1,800 Fiat Doblo Cargo Maxi vans
BT’s network division, Openreach, has updated its fleet of vehicles by adding 1,800 Fiat Doblo vans to its existing compliment.
The new investments will primarily be used by BT engineers as they continue with the rollout of the high-speed fibre optic broadband network across the UK.
With all vans wrapped in Openreach livery, FIAT Doblò Cargo Maxi is an ideal vehicle for Openreach thanks to its reliability, low running costs, manoeuvrability, payload, comfort and ease of operation.
Duncan Webb, Commercial Director at BT Fleet, said: “These vehicles have been deployed to front-line engineers installing fibre broadband into homes and businesses across the UK. With a fleet of hard-working vehicles of this size it was important to have the right vehicles, which we have in the FIAT Doblò Cargo Maxi.”
Sebastiano Federigo, head of brand, FIAT Professional UK, added: “We are delighted that Openreach has chosen FIAT Professional UK to supply the vehicles that are so vital to the implementation of its roll out plans. It highlights not only the quality, efficiency and versatility of our award-winning vans but also the level of support and peace-of-mind we are able to offer even the largest and most exacting fleets in the UK.”
Fedrigo also highlighted the hard-wearing fortex-covered seats Fiat has installed in its vans to withstand the wear and tear inflicted by workers frequently getting in and out while making deliveries or stop off on their daily routes and journeys.
The Fiat Doblò Cargo recently won Fleet Van of the Year at the 2014 Motor Transport Awards, by offering a 1-tonne payload and load volume of up to 5m3, and featuring a Bi-Link rear suspension for smooth operation and handling. Prices for new vans start at around £13,055 and other major companies such as Royal Mail have already made substantial investments in the Doblo’s.
