Staci, the top fulfilment specialist in the UK and Europe, has been acquired by Belgian postal giant bpostgroup in a landmark £1.3bn (US$1.7bn) deal.

The acquisition, completed in early August, is part of bpostgroup’s strategy to lead in European e-commerce and omnichannel logistics.

The acquisition is a crucial part of bpostgroup’s plan to strengthen its position in the logistics value chain.

By partnering with Staci, bpostgroup aims to become a top player in e-commerce and omnichannel fulfilment across Europe, leveraging Staci’s expertise in complex logistics and multi-channel distribution.

Wayne Chapman, CEO of Staci UK, describes the deal as “a significant endorsement of our long-term financial success, growth and track record of supporting and retaining clients.”

He adds that the acquisition “strengthens our ability to serve and expand our client base across the UK and Europe," and opens doors to new markets, such as Poland and Australia.

Staci’s global presence

With more than 800,000 sq ft of capacity spread across seven Fulfilment Centres, Staci handles a broad range of logistics services, from high-volume e-commerce to complex point-of-sale (POS) fulfilment.

It also manages critical spare parts contracts and logistics for high-profile events. The company’s extensive client base spans e-commerce, retail, healthcare and consumer goods.

Staci’s global operations, including in Europe, Asia and the US, will enable bpostgroup to enhance its service offering and expand its reach in the fast-growing logistics sector.

The deal will also see Thomas Mortier, CEO of Staci Group since 1996, lead bpostgroup’s International 3PL division while joining the board of directors.

Mortier is tasked with integrating Staci’s operations with bpostgroup’s network, creating synergies that will drive innovation and growth across the global market.

New opportunities with bpostgroup

The acquisition also opens doors for collaboration with other bpostgroup brands, such as Active Ants and Radial, offering new cross-selling opportunities and sector expansion.

Together, these businesses will enhance value for their clients by combining their strengths.

“We’re excited to leverage the wealth of data, insights and best practices that this collaboration brings. Together, we’ll drive even greater efficiency and deliver exceptional value to our clients worldwide," Wayne adds.

As the logistics industry continues to evolve post-pandemic, the acquisition positions both companies to lead in providing flexible, innovative logistics solutions on a global scale.

With bpostgroup’s support, Staci is set to solidify its role as a global leader in logistics.

Customers can rest assured that the transition will be smooth, with no disruption to existing services. bpostgroup has committed to ensuring continued support for Staci UK’s employees and clients throughout this process.
