Sephora UK has announced that DHL Supply Chain will be its primary logistics partner for the next five years.

On average, a Sephora customer spends over US$30 per month, with the company generating approximately US$27.4m daily.

Despite challenges such as the pandemic, the beauty industry has grown by 19.9% over the past five years (2018-2023). The men's personal care market is projected to reach US$276.9bn by 2030.

DHL will manage warehousing, eCommerce fulfilment and transportation across Sephora’s UK network, playing a crucial role in supporting the company’s ambitious growth strategy in the region.

In collaboration with DHL, Sephora has also launched a new omni-channel distribution centre (DC) in Coventry.

This multi-user facility is DHL's first carbon-neutral new build in the UK, marking a significant step in Sephora's sustainability efforts.

Powered entirely by renewable electricity, the Coventry DC is one of DHL’s most eco-friendly sites in Europe and has been designed with a focus on employee wellbeing.

The facility features sustainable, recycled and natural materials, creating a positive workspace that aligns with Sephora’s commitment to sustainability.

Sephora and DHL’s strategic partnership

Sephora and DHL have worked closely to design a supply chain operation that supports Sephora's expansion plans in the UK.

By leveraging DHL’s expertise in the beauty industry, the partnership aims to position Sephora as a leader in the UK beauty market.

DHL’s Digital Manufacturing division has developed customised in-house solutions, including the deployment of pick-assisting robots to handle fluctuating demand while ensuring high-quality control.

Sarah Boyd, UK Managing Director of Sephora, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “We are delighted to be working with DHL. The UK is a really important growth market for our business and one with huge potential.

“Sephora UK’s new omni-channel distribution centre is powered by DHL’s first carbon-neutral site and is a significant milestone in our sustainability journey.

"The transition of our supply chain to this state-of-the-art facility is an absolutely pivotal project that underpins our UK expansion. It is critical to us that we ensure our growth is sustainable, as we reduce our carbon footprint and provide an excellent working environment for our teams in the warehouse.”

This technology ensures that each order is efficiently picked, packed and shipped with minimal handling, preserving product integrity.

The partnership also focuses on meeting the demands of peak sales periods, particularly those driven by marketing and influencer activities.

With DHL’s advanced eCommerce fulfilment capabilities, Sephora can offer later cut-off times and improved product availability for its customers.

Natalie Frow, Managing Director of eCommerce & Retail at DHL Supply Chain, also commented on the collaboration: “Sephora’s relaunch was a major moment for UK retail and the iconic brand has made a huge impact in a short space of time.
