Marking 25 years, Inverto is reshaping global supply chains through sustainable, data-driven procurement strategies that balance cost, risk and climate

As global supply chains face growing scrutiny from regulators and stakeholders, businesses are under mounting pressure to embed sustainability in procurement strategies.

At the heart of this shift sits Inverto, a consultancy that has been focused on supply chain and procurement since its founding in 2000.

Celebrating 25 years in 2025, Inverto has grown into a global consultancy known for combining commercial acumen with environmental and social responsibility.

It now counts private equity firms and multinationals among its clients, guiding them through the complexities of cost, risk and compliance across global logistics networks.

Expanding from Cologne to the world

Inverto’s journey begins in Cologne, Germany.

The consultancy was set up to rethink procurement not only as a cost-saving lever but as a strategic driver of business value.

The turning point came in 2017, when Inverto joined Boston Consulting Group (BCG), enabling a broader international reach and richer service offering.

By 2024, the firm had opened offices in Zurich, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Chicago.

With more than 600 professionals now working across 17 locations on three continents, Inverto’s influence continues to grow across the global supply chain landscape.

To mark its 25th anniversary, the company rolled out a rebrand.

The new identity includes bold colour choices and a redesigned “O” symbolising the unity between Inverto, BCG and its clients.

“The new brand is an invitation to rediscover Inverto,” says Laura McCracken, Global Marketing Director.

“It takes our DNA into the future and represents the promise to continue to provide the best possible support for our customers’ success.”

This updated look goes beyond marketing. It reflects Inverto’s long-term vision to increase its global impact and attract talent in critical areas such as sustainable sourcing, regulatory expertise and supply resilience.

Purpose-driven supply chains

Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Weise, leads the consultancy focused on striking the right balance between competing priorities in procurement.

“We not only support companies with strategies that create long-term competitive advantages, but also very specifically in their implementation,” he says.

“We find the right balance between cost focus, risk minimisation, innovative ability, quality standards and sustainability for every customer – and have been doing so for 25 years.”

The consultancy’s values run through its operations, with a clear focus on collaboration and ethical decision-making.

"Why are we engaged? Quite simply: Because it's the right thing to do!" says Jan-Christoph Kischkewitz, Managing Director and People Chair.

This people-centred ethos feeds directly into Inverto’s supply chain work, where values and profit are no longer seen as opposites. Instead, ethical supply chains are positioned as resilient and future-proofed, especially when environmental regulations are tightening worldwide.

Climate compliance and efficiency working hand in hand

Inverto works with clients to not just meet sustainability targets, but to embed environmental and social goals across supply chain functions.

Its support includes services such as sustainable sourcing, supplier governance, and performance reporting based on the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI).

Rather than responding passively to climate rules, Inverto encourages clients to build long-term sustainability roadmaps.

These often involve collaboration with NGOs, universities and research bodies, aiming to co-create innovations in logistics, materials and supplier relations.

One example sees Inverto assist a consumer durables manufacturer in improving container fill rates. The result? A reduction in CO₂ emissions by 400 tonnes, achieved without compromising operational performance.

For businesses facing new rules such as the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), Inverto’s expertise helps make compliance part of core performance, rather than a box-ticking exercise.

“To succeed in complying with the CSDDD, it is essential for companies to train their employees in the requirements of the new regulation,” explains Jean-Pierre Masson, Managing Director at Inverto.

“This is a need expressed by nearly half of the respondents.

"Leaders must also adopt a cross-cutting approach and integrate the duty of vigilance into a corporate program that effectively combines cost control, ESG commitment and increased resilience.

"The CSDDD should be approached as a performance issue rather than a compliance issue.”

As part of its ongoing work, Inverto continues to publish white papers and best practice insights on everything from packaging design to supplier traceability and materials management.

These materials serve procurement teams seeking pragmatic, measurable strategies for achieving sustainability goals.

Inverto’s future in sustainable supply

As it marks 25 years, Inverto looks ahead with a clear purpose: enabling procurement teams to deliver value in a world shaped by climate policy, resource constraints and complex stakeholder demands.
