DHL Supply Chain has announced the appointment of Andries Retief as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) for its EMEA region. Andries, who has been with DHL since 2009, steps into this key role with a strong track record of leadership across various global markets, bringing a wealth of experience in finance, transportation and operations.

Having previously led DHL’s operations in Southeast Asia, Andries is well-equipped to handle the diverse challenges of the EMEA region. His extensive international background, including stints in Africa, Europe and Asia, gives him a broad perspective on market dynamics. He plans to focus on developing customer-centric strategies, supporting 23 key markets and enhancing DHL’s offerings for small and medium-sized enterprises.

Andries sees the growing consumer demand, rapid urbanisation and sectoral growth as significant opportunities in the EMEA region. "Our customers rely on us to simplify and scale their contract logistics operations," he says, emphasising his commitment to driving sustainable solutions that support businesses through both steady and peak periods.

One of Andries immediate priorities will be addressing the upcoming peak season, a critical time for the logistics industry. He expects this year’s peak period to start earlier and anticipates a rise in demand across e-commerce and omni-channel services. To manage this, he aims to ensure scalable capacity through DHL’s vast network of warehouses and transportation services. "Our goal is to collaborate closely with our customers to develop sustainable supply chain strategies that help them navigate the surge in demand," he notes.
